Bronwyn Edinger has been appointed as the new General Manager of Bell Shakespeare, following a national search by Odgers Berndtson Australia (former BSP).
Bronwyn comes to the role after over six years as General Manager at City Recital Hall and has extensive experience across a range of arts organisations. Her previous positions include the Director of Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, General Manager of Arts On Tour NSW, General Manager of Black Swan Theatre Company and founding General Manger of Perth Theatre Company.
“I am delighted to welcome Bronwyn Edinger as our new General Manager… we are excited to work with her on the continuing success of our Company,” said Bell Shakespeare’s Artistic Director, John Bell.
Bronwyn has been involved in a number of arts industry bodies and boards and is a past president of both the national (APACA) and state (INAPAC) performing arts centres’ associations.
She is chair of both the Regional Touring and Regional Capital funding panels and in 2011 undertook a review into Performing Arts Touring for Arts NSW.
“I am thrilled about the new challenge. Bell Shakespeare is a company that many aspire to work with and I’m eagerly looking forward to being part of a theatre company again. It is a great privilege to have this opportunity to join an organisation that I respect so highly,” said Bronwyn Edinger.
Bronwyn will replace outgoing General Manager Christopher Tooher, who is the new Executive Director of Sydney Festival.
Chairman of Bell Shakespeare, Ilana Atlas said, “Bronwyn brings experience, skills and passion for what the Company does. She is perfectly placed to work with John and Peter in taking Shakespeare and the classics to Australians, no matter where they live or what their age.”
